I just had a trip + experience + discover Cambodia 4 days 3 nights.
Here are a few to share + my feelings about everything I have personally discovered during the trip!
I do not specify the daily route where I go, what to do, what to eat, what to drink, how .. I only record the points I have discovered, my experiences, the experiences summarized through Trip for you who want to travel to Cambodia in the future can refer to it!
Because I think, exploring myself and arranging the schedule will be interesting and draw more experiences for myself than traveling on other people’s journeys ..
Cambodia was dubbed the “land of pagodas”.
Cambodia is one of the countries where people have the most powerful and absolute faith in religion. It is said, to know the economic conditions and the population of a place, go to the market of that land. However, in Cambodia is completely different: where there are large, massive temples, the people around that region have a prosperous, wealthy life (and vice versa).
The temple is the most important place in Cambodia, it is associated with the lives of people here from small to large. From an early age, the children can attend the temple, until they grow up, people often go to the monk to pay their respects to their parents, until they die, they use the cremation method and send the ashes into the towers. in the temple. Therefore, you may come across tower pagodas all over Cambodia.
Well, as far as I know, the structure of the towers are built the same: below the square, the middle is round, pointed to the top of the tower. The square at the bottom of the tower is modeled like a folded cassock, the center circle is a bowl, and the pointed upper point represents the cane.
Cambodian weather is quite similar to Vietnam because it is located in the tropical monsoon region. The average temperature in Cambodia is about 27 degrees C. However, the appropriate time to travel to Cambodia is from November to February of the year after the weather is mild, not too hot and less rain. The rainy season in Cambodia lasts from mid-June to October. Every April is Khmer New Year, so this season has a lot of festivals. But the weather in April is very hot, about 3 to 40 degrees Celsius!
This is the problem I feel most wrong when I come to Cambodia. I had to convert Vietnamese Dong into USD, then used USD to convert to Riel (Read: Ria). Because I think that converting VND to USD and then converting to Riel will be better for me. But really not. Although Riel is the official currency of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Cambodia is dollarized, so people use dollars like Riel. As I see it, when buying anything, people also price in USD at all. And I have already exchanged all dollars for Riel, so I have to ask them how much it is to pay!
Therefore, you can exchange a little money through Riel only, the rest just change to USD offline! Well, some places still use Vietnamese money, so don’t worry .. =)))
Denomination: 1USD = 22,250VND = 4000 Riel (In my opinion, using USD will be more beneficial than using Riel)
– USD, you change in VN to avoid devaluation, Riel, you can change at the Border or Market Gate in Phnom Penh. (1 million VND can be exchanged for 170,000 Riel)
– If you do not use all, when you return to Vietnam people will exchange Vietnamese money for you, equal to the original exchange value.
The main language of Cambodian people is Khmer. I just learned a few basic words. Because when people come to their country and say some of their words, they also feel happy! =)))
– A bunch of curls: hello
– Soc sa pai: good health
– Oops kun: Thanks
– Add Bai: Add rice
– More news: add water
– Pon Man: How much
– Let loose: discount (I always say “Give then take”)
Cambodian people have a hard time learning, so they also know basic English / Chinese communication. So don’t worry too much.
(When communicating with Cambodians, step 1 should speak in Vietnamese, if they do not understand, then move to English step 2! I met a lot of people, spoke English to them, finally say: thank you very much / Vietnamese / … make me fall back .. =)))
Bokor Plateau has an altitude of 1075m above sea level. The road to Bokor is similar to those of Nha Trang – Da Lat. The atmosphere is exactly the same as Da Lat! The fog is as thick and white as Sapa. It’s great .. Standing on top of Bokor can throw his eyes to Phu Quoc island. Because Bokor is only 20km from Phu Quoc. Caught the Vietnamese phone signal! ^^
Statue of Mao – the statue is located halfway up the mountain. Confirmed around are the face rocks, people believe that statues like mountain gods protect their lives. The statue of Mrs. Mao is very sacred. Cambodians believe that Ms. Mao bless cars and boats when traveling. Previously, her husband betrayed and died, so she hated men. People often offered her items Linga – (male penis) of wood or stone. However, nowadays people often give her a bunch of bananas, because the banana resembles that “image”. ^^
Wat Sampov Pram is located on the top of Bokor.
In particular, the legend of the 5-boat pagoda is also associated with the love story of Prince Preah Thong and Princess Aquarium Nagani to build her own kingdom.
P / s: Take beautiful pictures here too! But when I got dark, I couldn’t take any good photos!
(Therefore, you should visit here early in the morning or at sunset to take photos!)
The church is located close to the pagoda of 5 boats, it is dark so I could not discover this church. Just know that it was built in France in 1917 ..
Combination of hotel, villa, resort, casino, karaoke, disco, … massive massive firmness firmly on the top of the mountain! Very big .. I stayed 1 night here then the next morning continue the journey.
This is a coastal province. Someone said, “If you haven’t visited the” symbol of Sihanouk Ville “then you have not come to Cambodia! The symbol is that two lions are placed in the center of the center. I know why, but I find these two lions quite skinny, much thinner than Vietnamese lions ..: 3
Evening strolling the streets of Sihanouk Ville, caught CASINO close together, very “tense”! There is a night market (food), and west street too.
My purpose to Sihanouk Ville is to go to Koh rong Samloem. From the pier, move high-speed train of about 40 minutes to Koh Rong Samloem Island. I ran very fast and very smoothly! Koh Rong Samloem is very beautiful! Blue sea see the bottom, white fish delete. I am here like Con Dao in Vietnam. But this place is much more pristine .. People do not live on this island, later the tour service will only come to the island. There are not any hotels or entertainment services yet .. They exploit the island in the pristine way, build wooden houses, wood-flooring restaurant forever, .. very close to nature ..
The capital of Cambodia. Houses here are not as tall and beautiful as in Vietnam. The buildings are in the center of the capital but are only a few dozen floors high .. More than Vietnam, the Casino is much more beautiful .. =))
Well, in 2019, Cambodia will start construction of the 132-storey twin tower – the tallest in the world!
Highlights in the large square, right at the intersection of the two largest roads in Phnom Penh. This is a place where anyone coming to this city should visit and take a souvenir photo.
NagaWorld is like the first resort and entertainment complex in Indochina. Most people come here to enter the Casino – the only exclusive casino in Phnom Penh. In the basement, it’s a duty free shopping mall. There are many “familiar face” brands such as: The body shop, Shiseido, SK II, Laneige, Casio, sámonite, bla bla … so much .. Due to tax exemption, the items purchased here are quite cheap. As I see what I buy is cheaper than in Vietnam at least 30%.
Central market, also known as new market. This is the place that any Vietnamese people coming to Cambodia will visit. They sell everything from gemstones, electronics, souvenirs, clothes, food … Sometimes they sell the company exporting exports (Nike, adidas, … “Made in Cambodia “). There are many people who speak Vietnamese and spend Vietnamese money.
I tried many dishes in Cambodia:
1. Buffet Tontel bassac, Sou Sou Hotpot Conveyor Hotpot, ..
Buffet and Hotpot conveyor are very popular with Cambodians. But I don’t like it. Buffet has all the dishes of Orange, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, .. there are pancakes, filter cake and all that. But I don’t know what it is .. Not as charming as Vietnamese. Sou Sou hotpot is like Kichi Kichi in our house, but the soup is very pale. Kind of like the people here they tasted very light í .. not as rich as the Vietnamese. Even the sauce, it is also pale!
2. Street food
Walking around Phnom Penh, I can also eat some local dishes. Such as grilled rice, noodles, tea, … But just eat that said, but did not find anything really delicious where!
3. Nam Vang noodle
Ohh .. Before thinking that Nam Vang rice noodles were Vietnamese! But actually Nam Vang noodle is Cambodian brought to Vietnam! Nam Vang is another name for Phnom Penh, when Cambodia was at war, people evacuated to Vietnam. CHOPPED PORK”.
However, Vietnamese people do not know what the name of this dish is called, so it is called Nam Vang noodle – di Nam Vang people brought it. At present, Nam Vang noodle in Vietnam has changed a lot, with shrimp and other things to suit Vietnamese cuisine. And the Cambodian noodle soup of the Cambodian origin that I finished, it had the original taste – small tofu + pork heart + minced pork only!
4. Delicious + Hoang Yen Restaurant
2 Vietnamese restaurants on Orange land. Feel happy when you see Vietnamese food in your country. Found Vietnamese food more charming.
