I played three sports in school, and then competitive basketball, tennis, and softball in top-level industrial leagues into my 40s, mountain biking through my 50s, road biking still now in my late 60s. Picked up golf at 41 and enjoyed learning the complex game where the conditions always vary. But, like any long-term “relationship” it can bring you joy one moment and take you to your knees in frustration the next lol
It is the hardest game to master, and once you do it can slip away in a heartbeat. I take more of a Zen approach to it now whether playing 9 in the evening alone or an outing with friends. Now it’s more about being in the moment where my yoga and Tai Chi training are more helpful than hours on the practice range.
It’s not for everyone but is one of several sports/activities one can enjoy untill you move on to the next life …
