Our recycled brick garden wall cost a lot less than trump’s, and invites people (and wildlife) over it

Our recycled brick garden wall cost a lot less than trump’s, and invites people (and wildlife) over it. After leaf cleanup in the winter, I plan to add crushed stone or small creek gravel for all the garden paths. Lots of larger variety elephant ear plants will be added in Spring on the woods side of the wall for a greener backdrop. The multicolored hydrangeas in Spring should make it pop with color.
It took over a ton of paver base tamped down hard for the base. I took a mindful Zen approach to the work doing it in stages during the cooler break we had this October. Streaming 60s music over my Bluetooth boom box made the task more enjoyable.
Also pictured is an early Spring project where we had two hundred-foot gumball trees removed between the homes. Added soil and landscape blocks along with 2 cubic yards of crushed brick for the pathway. Safer now from the windstorms, and no more picking up thousands of prickly gumballs twice a year.
After a long career working in the corporate world, I occasionally enjoy getting back to my childhood roots with the gardening. Meanwhile, my wife’s fall project was the garage makeover. We tackle most projects ourselves, and sub out what we have to.

Any milkweed for the monarchs? I planted some this summer and will add more next summer. Helped 10 of 11 chrysalis fly away with the extra milkweed provided by Joan and Peg (thank you!!!). Man, those guys can eat!! It was a blast!

We have butterfly bushes and other things that do attract them as well as hummingbirds. I’ll check milkweed as well. We used to get hundreds and hundreds of them on their migration but a fraction now. For a couple weeks we do get hundreds of beautiful dragon flies.
