The first picture is looking through a hole in the wall across the UN Buffer Zone from the Greek side, at a row of beautiful Ottoman houses atop an old Venetian bastion. The second picture is taken of the same wall from the other side of the UN Zone on the Turkish side. Turns out our wall was the back of a long-dead football stand.
They were taken about 15 minutes apart. This is one of the strangest places I’ve ever been.
