Today there is not a “general strike” in Catalonia but an “aturada de pais” (stop of the country) that is not technically a strike since the workers and public employees don’t lose money. So, obviously the “stop of the country” will be a successful day. Workers have a good incentive to take the day off since they will get their salary for participating in the rallies and will enjoy a free day where they can show their patriotism and belongingness to the community singing songs and waving nationalist flags.

Siglos XI-XIII.
